I have had so many learning experiences with communities online and offline while in
university. I volunteered and became a part of developer communities, this elated my
excitement and interest in software development. Through volunteering and developer meetups
gatherings, I had and still have access to resources, tools and a rich network of tools.
Exposing me to more people and growing my skills and capacities.
Here are a few highlights of my experiences
BONGOHIVE
I learned about the Bongohive community through The TadHack 2016. This was my first introduction to the Zambian developer community & the Bongohive's developer community with several resources for development and learning.
I met several software developers and founders and tech enthusiasts in Lusaka. During the meet-ups, I learned about the Nasa Space apps challenge and several events resources, talks, and a lot more information about software development.

During the Nasa Space Apps Challenge, I met the coordinator of Makerhut Zambia and became a volunteer. During this time, I learned a lot about electronics and attended several electronics meet-ups, and helped coordinate events and demos of the use of programming and electronics.
FACEBOOK DEVELOPER CIRCLES
I learned about Facebook developer circles through the Bongohive community and became a member of FaceBook Developer Circles. The community had all the resources and talks on programming languages and a rich network of developers and experiences. This exposed me to exceptional developers, and I enjoyed being in a community with women within the tech community.
ASIKANA NETWORK
I have been a member of Asikana network since 2017. As a volunteer with Maker Hut and while interning at Hacker Guild, I learned of a network of women in Technology who share knowledge and work together.
As a member of Asikana network,my first experience was volunteering to make changes to the Asikana network website . I also volunteered for Zicta for Girls in ICT conference (2019), and I trained and introduced scratch programing to young girls. Additionally, I trained secondary school teachers in HTML and coding basics. I continue to attend and be a part of training and activities
HACKERS GUILD
During the time I was a volunteer with MakerHut, I was introduced to a trainer from Hackers guild. I became an intern for the Web Development boot camp.
I volunteered for the rural coding series, called Girls can code in Mansa. During this time I learned a lot more about electronics & basics of electronic programming. I helped with training young girls in the introduction to scratch, sonic pi(raspberry pi), and several programming concepts
DEVCON 2019
Volunteering for the Developer Conference was great. I helped facilitate registration, assist speakers with requirements , and assist Attendees. I learned a lot about developer conferences and what a wealth of knowledge all the experiences shared and talks given.
I have had several other experiences with training and knowledge from being in communities and volunteering. There is always so much to learn for both in-person an online activities.
